This means all the grocery stores get resupplied in that amount of time. If the chain breaks there would be no food left after 2-3 days or less depending on how much of a demand there was for food and water. Freeze dried foods might be another option for folks. If something like radiation comes into play it could be months if food and water are contaminated. My advice is to set aside at least 3 to 6 months of foods that will not spoil and enough water for your family. I would also have a means of securing your important items in your home. A large safe just in case things get really out of control those items will remain secure.
