Virginia is full of many antiquities and has much history from Jamestown to the Civil War. In addition to these many unique historical attributes, another one is the seldom known fact that former Governor Wilder used to work in Richmond as a letterpress operator in his youth.
Dave Clinger, a passionate letterpress collector and enthusiast, who donated most of his letterpress collection to the Valentine museum, noted that one of the presses in his collection was similar to one that Wilder used. It is believed that Wilder confirmed it was similar to the model he used. Interestingly enough, Richmond has grown in this respect as well as being Virginia’s most well known town for letterpress printing. Companies like Page Stationery have helped fuel the resurgence in letterpress for wedding invitations and stationery products using these older presses. Just search for letterpress Richmond or letterpress Richmond Va and you can find them quickly.
So not only was Governor Wilder Virginia’s first black Governor he was probably the first letterpress printer who served as Governor.

This new Richmond restaurant looks really nice after spending what appears to be hundreds of thousands of dollars on renovating the old Edible Garden. There was a veil of secrecy during the construction so I hope to see fireworks on opening night. We will keep you posted on the particulars after opening. Please let the food be as good as it looks!

There is nothing on the back except a copyright. I would much rather have a front and back design on a nice paper for $1.45 any day. Well another beautiful farmhouse goes up for auction so who has the money to buy a property like this? Not your average local business owner but probably the investment banker or hedge fund manager. What a great weekend get away this would make for the family. It is only about a thirty minute helicopter ride from downtown Richmond. All you need is a caretaker and you are set! This would be an all cash deal.
Near Richmond VA native and former Mayor of West Point, Burke Johnson, has released a children’s iPad® kids book called “Sky Pals”. Sky Pals is an imaginative story about our new friends Wendy Wind, Tommy Thunder, Randy Rain and Larry Lightning and their journeys through the sky. The book was first released in 1968 and was written for his children. Unfortunately, the original book was lost in a move and only sketches and text survived. It was only later that son Tayllor Johnson, having two children of his own, decided to put the book back to its original state and collaborate with his father to finish Sky Pals. He initially decided to release the childrens book as an ipad ebook for children. This way he could bring even more life to the imaginative characters. Surely this is one of the best iPad books for kids As for the story this quote probably sums it best:

Sky Pals Tommy Thunder, Larry Lightning, Wendy Wind and Randy Rain have been out playing and it is hard to know where they will turn up next. It just so happens in the first Sky Pals episode that they come across Spreading Valley that hasn’t had much rain all summer long. It is so dry that Jack’s boats no longer can sail in his favorite pond without running aground. Breezing through on a sunny day Wendy Wind encounters Jack and his dilemma and rushes back to tell the boys. Soon thereafter a thunderous time ensues as Tommy, Larry and Randy come to save the day!
